What Else Do You Guys Do?

Glad you asked!

Olena Kagui is a crazy cat and dog lady who just wrote and illustrated her first children's book called What Smiley the Rescue Dog Didn't Know. You can find it on Amazon by searching the title or via this link. Isaac did the editing and helped with the self publishing process via KDP.

Smiley also has a Facebook Page called Smiley the Rescue Avocadog, inspired by his very first Halloween costume in 2018. You can even read about him on The Dodo! His adoption story was published in 2018 and a viral photo he was in got him a second article in 2025. For those who are rightfully scared of opening random links, you can find the articles on Google by searching for "Smiley Olena Kagui The Dodo." Of course, Smiley also has a TikTok channel (@smileyonmaui) where a video of him using a doggy fountain toy broke the internet and reached 27 million views in 2021. Smiley is also prominantly featured on Olena's YouTube Channel (@TheTravelBugBite). Smiley has won lots of photo competitions over the 7 years he lived with Olena, Isaac, and their managerie of animals, collectively refered to as the Roozoodence. The most notable was first place in the American Kennel Club magazine's photo contest in 2021.

Olena's YouTube channel started out as a travel vlog but has quickly morphed into lots of cat and dog videos plus some unboxings of mostly techy things, and us exploring Maui, where we currently live. We recently took on fostering kittens, so those get featured on the channel too!

While it has been neglected for years, Olena used to have a blog. But since she started writing full-time for a living as a feature writer on iPhone Life, it took the back seat. Currently it acts as a record of all her writing. Olena once pursued a career in journalism and she won an Excellence Award for an article about a controvercial topic. A few months after that, she got a grant from the Prague Freedom Foundation to report on the 2014 Maidan Revolution in Kyiv, Ukraine, where Olena is originally from. The articles she wrote during that time were published internationally and are archived at https://olenakaguiukraine2014.wordpress.com/ - there's some pretty heavy stuff here, if you want to read it, I recommend having a cute fluffy creature by your side to keep your spirits high.

Isaac is Olena's life and business partner, the person who drags her outside when she's been couped up on her laptop and rightfully forces her to breathe some much needed fresh air. He is also a yes-man and helps Olena behind the scenes with whatever crazy project she persues. Olena, who is writing is, is very grateful to have Isaac by her side. When I say Isaac is a yes-man, I am not kidding... one time he made a joke about moving to China and Olena said OK LET'S GO and they lived there three months later. There's videos and articles about that on YouTube and the travel blog.
